When to choose a gothic multi-span
MSC describes the gothic multi-span as very versatile, suitable for any climate, country and crop. The arch starts at a 15° pitch at the top, which reduces the area where condensation can drip onto the crop. The design also holds more air high in the greenhouse per square metre of floor, which gives higher air-renewal rates.
Spans are 9.6 m wide, and bays are built in multiples of 2.5 m. The clear height under the truss runs from 2.5 m to 6.5 m. Standard, semi-reinforced and reinforced versions differ in internal column spacing and the number of truss ties.
K2 and K3: lighter multi-spans
MSC’s K2 and K3 models use fewer structural elements. That makes them very strong but lighter per square metre, which brings the cost down. MSC designed them for temperate climates.
- K2: 9.6 m spans in 4 m bays, with 3 m to 6 m clear height and no crop support
- K3: 9.6 m spans in 3 m bays, with 3 m to 6 m clear height, and it carries the crop
The K3 is the model that came through Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica in its reinforced version. Read the project.
