The project
MSC completed a full growing operation in Honduras, made up of three parts:
- A seedling house for raising transplants
- A control building housing the irrigation, fertigation and water storage equipment
- 6 hectares of shade house (MSC Casa Sombra) for the main crop
MSC has been working in Honduras for more than 20 years, and this project adds to that track record.

What it means for Australia
A shade house is the most cost-effective way to protect crops in the warm north and inland. It cuts heat and light, keeps out insects, and softens hail and wind. This project shows how one supplier can deliver the whole operation, from propagation to the main crop to the equipment room.
