The project
MSC built a nursery to raise eucalyptus seedlings for forestry in Zambezia province, Mozambique.
During construction, floods in the province brought down every bridge in the region. MSC still completed the project in June 2015, and the client was fully satisfied.
The expansion
A few weeks later, in August 2015, MSC began expanding the nursery. The expansion was designed to increase eucalyptus seedling production by 30%.
What it means for Australia
Forestry and revegetation nurseries need large, efficient propagation areas. That’s a good fit for the plantation regions of Tasmania, WA’s south-west, the Green Triangle and Queensland. Eucalyptus is, after all, a native Australian genus.
